Pétition à l\’attention de Monsieur le Préfet de l\’Ardèche
Petition to Monsieur le Préfet de l’Ardèche
We ask you to take into consideration the situation of Viviane Robin’s family.
We firmly oppose the eviction of a family from their home in the Mourre Frais!
Viviane Robin, Piotr Kurtz - both interdisciplinary artists – and their young daughter Kinga Fleur d’amandier (aged 23 months) are threatened to be evicted from their home - a little farm located in the Mourre Frais area in Balazuc (07120), in the south of Ardèche, France. V.Robin lived in the Mourre Frais when a child and a teenager and has come back and lived there since 2001. She is deeply attached to her home and has turned it into the core of her artistic work. Her mother Martine Diersé who owns the Mourre Frais sued her under the accusation of squatting in the family house in order to evict her from it.
We firmly oppose the destruction of a living work of art which has been in progress over the past fifteen years: the social and ecological modelling of the Mourre Frais!
For more than a decade, the Mourre Frais has harbored many international artists who have lived and worked there bearing in mind a broadened vision of art: the Mourre Frais has become their living work of art and it is still in full progress!
Broadened vision of art=a social and ecological modelling which relates everything that is alive in all its complexity thanks to poetical deeds.
These artists have created the association named LA FRICHE DE L’ART ÉLARGI which defends the social and ecological modelling of the Mourre Frais. The members of this association are either young or old and from diverse horizons and countries of origin. Exhibitions and cultural events are held there all year long. This place enables them to share unexpected and friendly moments on the occasion of cultural events.
In 2010, the association has planned an “exhibition which grows like a tree” from March 7th to November 7th. We will exhibit a series of works of art – art at large – dealing with the theme of trees. This exhibition is in the making (Francis Hallé’s drawings, Gilles Clément’s photographs, Hiroshige’s engravings, etc) and you may get all the information about it on the internet, HYPERLINK “http://www.mourrefrais.com” www.mourrefrais.com
Those who live off this place should not be evicted!
The Mourre Frais’s inhabitants have maintained the botanical and agricultural potential of the place for a decade. There are numerous agricultural achievements in the area where the creation of an unconventional farm/inn is being planned – comprising an irrigated garden (thousands of square yards), a large greenhouse, the breeding of goats (several-acre parks), poultry, tree plantations and fruit trees (more than a hundred). Evicting the inhabitants from their food-providing land is outcasting them. This eviction would put a whole family on the streets especially in today’s economic crisis.
The creators and participants of this work of art – V.Robin and P.Kurtz – fully live off the Mourre Frais for the bare necessity (housing, food, self-sufficiency,etc) and the greater necessity (art, poetry, relationships, sharing, culture, etc). It is a comprehensive and symbiotic work and they are totally part of it.
A pregnant woman should not be brutally evicted and sued during and after her pregnancy without prior counselling!
V.Robin has paid the rents and has tried to officialize their lease but no permanent solution has been suggested by her mother. Then, in June 2007, M.Diersé – art teacher at l’Immaculée (a junior high school in Aubenas), living in the castle of Fabras and owner of the Mourre Frais – sued her pregnant daughter. V.Robin who refused to go through any stress and anxiety caused by a lawsuit asked for counselling which M.Diersé always rejected.
A 23-month-old baby should not be evicted from her home!
Kinga was born in the Mourre Frais on February 13th, 2008. She belongs there. Her own grand-mother’s evicting her is unacceptable and traumatic! In evicting her grand-daughter with the help of law enforcement officers, M.Diersé attacks children’s rights (United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, art. 19, 1). Such ill-treatment and giving up on her grand-daughter is unacceptable. Such lack of solidarity and handing on of family violence cannot be accepted. It is an attack within a family and would result in the destruction of the family house since it is a shelter where solidarity and an empathetic welcoming of generations to come should prevail. It is an aggression towards future generations.
All for money and the tyrannical real estate speculation should not prevail!
M.Diersé’s friends and relatives enabled her to become the owner of the Mourre Frais on two occasions. In 1976, priest Charay sold the property for a life annuity to her and her husband. In 1996, when they divorced, their children, the grand-parents and ex-husband agreed to find a financial solution she benefited from to become the only owner. That is why it is all the more unethical for her to speculate on this property. M.Diersé intends to sell the Mourre Frais the highest market price. She offered this outrageous price in order to prevent the Mourre Frais inhabitants from buying it at a fair price. V.Robin wants to be faithful to the principles of solidarity which prevail in the Mourre Frais and is expecting to enjoy them. That is why she expects counselling.
Many people – whether they be friends of the Mourre Frais, members of LA FRICHE DE L’ART ÉLARGI association, common citizens, local officials, neighbors, relatives, etc – support the protection of the Mourre Frais and come up with concrete solutions to the property and economic problems.
We appeal to Monsieur le Préfet de l’Ardèche to put an end to the eviction procedure and obtain counselling which would be the only non-violent solution to this tragic situation.
Any other solution would be considered the violent destruction of a home and a living work of art and be rejected by all the participants in the Mourre Frais project!
